It was all about trains - even in the middle of the ceremony we felt the gentle purr of the commuter rail absentmindedly cradle us. Meredith and Dave first met on that train, many moons ago... and every morning sat on that train together, noticing each other until the silence was broken. I think it took a year or two :] There is an image in the series above that takes resonates with me very deeply - Meredith's father has just given her away... the feelings coursing through him at that point are all there, on his face, to unconsciously reaching for the hand she was just holding. Marvelous stuff and what a meeting of utter joy and sadness.

Meredith and Dave are such wonderful people - here's what they answered when I asked how they seek the joy: When we think of the best parts of our relationship and how we seek the joy in our moments together, we are drawn back to how we met and quiet shared moments. When we met on the train there were so many amazing, calm and intimate moments of just talking, listening and learning about each other. Some of our favorite and joyful moments continue to be quiet ones - dinners at home, walks around Salem, road trips to Maine, and summer days on the beach. We both have more individualized answers to this question but given that we are on the cusp of marriage, we thought we'd tell you a little bit about the types of shared moments that bring joy into our lives. At the end of the day, we love each other and spending time together brings joy to our lives - no need to glitz it up any more than that!

Exactly. I hope you can all find something as wonderful as this in your lives.

seek the joy
