I've known Vicki and Ryan since college. True story. I was actually their HR [would be known as an RA at almost any other school...] my junior year. Ryan was my year and Vicki was an innocent little freshman. :] Wouldn't you know it, they were married back up at Colby where they met. One of our music professors married them, in fact.
I absolutely adore these two people. Jazz buff who is all about absurdest French literature [I think I got that right] and classically trained string player who is teaching urban children the joys of 'playing' the violin. They've been together for eight years and Ryan is finishing his dissertation and teaching at Brandeis and Vicki, just finishing grad school at Harvard, is embarking on her teaching career. Their desire to teach and spread the joys of the arts and literature is an incredible testament to their character. Seeing people like them find each other and give so much to the world they live in gives me so much hope. For so many things.

This year, my July 4th wedding was actually on July 3rd - a friday. I was commissioned to shoot their after-party on the 4th as well... more time to spend with my wonderful couple!
Yana had her entire family over from Russia to celebrate with Dwight's family in Newport, RI at Belle Mer. They have wonderfully passionate friends and families filled with culture and fire. It was an absolute joy to spend the weekend with everyone. Many thanks to Alexis and her staff from Unique Weddings by Alexis for her fantastic everythingness that day.
Watching traditions collide headfirst and blossom into their own shapes is really something worth seeing. I highly recommend it.
